Dear Fellow ABATE members,

Have you had the "h-e-l-l" scared out of you?

During one of our attempted rides last weekend (it really started to pour…. getting to be that time of the season), we found shelter under the extended roof of a convenience store, along with several other bikers.

While under the roof, several interesting conversations were ensuing.  However, one thing that caught our ear was a biker, describing an experience while riding.  We can’t remember exactly what his experience was.  However, we clearly heard him say that, while riding, "……it scared the h-e-l-l out of me." Something startling and unexpected must have happened.

As bikers, we are clearly aware of our surroundings while riding and we know that there are things that will happen, on the road, directly or indirectly affecting us that will scare us and/or put the "fear of God" directly into our minds. There are some things that will hurt us, which we will have no control over.

We sincerely hope that as bad as these experiences are, they will add to your awareness while riding and help you to realize that the Lord could allow us to be taken away at any moment. As the word of God says, "…….for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night." - 1Thessalonians 5:2.  If you do not have the Lord within your heart and there is any doubt about where you will end up after death from this existence, this verse alone should be scary enough.

The Bible says, "……do you think you will escape God's judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance? But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God "will give to each person according to what he has done." To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger." – Romans 2:3-8.

If we can ever be of spiritual assistance, please contact us.  You know how to find us, you know the One we stand for, and we care about your eternal future.

Blessings,

Tom and Kathy

P.S. Here is a note from our Pastor, Scott "Road Rabbi." "A thought just from me, is that the most scary things in life can cause us great pause, great reflection, but not always do they lead to life changes.  When something so significant happens that we vow to change the way we do things, where do we turn for the right example?  To someone who has been through maybe worse, and their changes made them stronger, safer, and wiser.  Jesus is the best example, for what he went through, and still overcame.  He is a great example.  He turned what would have been excessive and overpowering fear into resolve, purpose, and victory!!  Giving our lives to Him can help us overcome the fear, and teach us the better way to live.  With the promise of eternal life!!"
